Swansea Protests on Budget Day
21st March 2012Today the Tories announced their budget of tax cuts for the rich. In was against this background that the Socialist Party, Swansea Anti-Cuts Campaign and Youth Fight for Jobs members leafleted and petitioned against cuts in the Swansea city centre.
Ten campaigners out during a weekday in Swansea is a fantastic turnout and we had an enthusiastic response. People were completely disgusted by the proposed Remploy closures and the outright greed of the tax-dodging rich. Even with two stalls and five petitions, people had to queue at times!
Today's budget of tax cuts for the richest exposed the lie that we're “all in this together”. We called for a budget that meets the needs of ordinary people. Councils and the Welsh Assembly should refuse to carry out the cuts.
Come to the public meeting tonight!
