A trip to the seaside is too expensive for many families
27th August 2014
I think that living in Swansea, with Gower peninsula on my doorstep, I'm fortunate to be able to enjoy some of the most beautiful coastline in the country.
But enjoying the delights of the coastline is now something denied to growing numbers of families. Wales Online reported research by the charity Barnardos that has found that a simple day trip to the seaside is now beyond the reach of most of the poorest 20% of families.
What an indictment of Con-Dem austerity that even as they claim the economy is recovering, that never mind a family holiday, as many as 1 in 5 families can't even afford fish and chips at the beach.
