Swansea Trades Council May Day Rally
Traditional May Day Celebration of Trade Unionism
Saturday 2 May, 12:00 mid-day
The Trades Council invites trade unionists and anti-cuts campaigners to join us in celebrating May Day by renewing the fight against austerity.
Last week Forbes published the latest edition of its rich list which showed that in the last 10 years, the richest 1,000 individuals in the UK have more than doubled their personal wealth and are together, now worth a combined £547 billion. There has been no austerity for the rich.
In the same 10 years the number of children living in poverty has increased by 1 million. Austerity has brought misery without end to working class people.
May Day is a traditional celebration for trade unionists and workers that was born in the struggle for the 8-hour day, 125 years ago. Let’s celebrate May Day this year by re-committing ourselves to the struggle to end austerity. Come and join with Swansea Trades Council in doing that this Saturday.
